Hoy es Domingo!

Yesterday (Saturday) we were together with the Fernandez family; getting to know them and their life and ministry here in Guatemala.  Their history is a strong testimony to God's faithfulness and we were very encouraged to talk and share meals with them.

Becky Fernandez
Becky Fernandez showed us the house that they are considering remodeling.  It seems as though God has put some great ideas into Enrique and Becky's minds as to how this house could be used for future ministry.  It will be exciting to see how this all comes together!

Today we will be attending church with Becky and her family.  Dave has been asked to give a greeting to the congregation, so it will be a great joy to greet our Guatemalan brothers and sisters with a blessing from the Cedarbrook community!

We are all so thankful to have you all thinking about and praying for us!  We are praying and connecting with the other CB teams in Honduras and Chile (only a little!!) as well.  Please pray for Christi Johnson (Dave & Joyce's daughter) as she started not feeling well last evening.  We are hoping that the "tummy troubles" are short lived!  Have a great day worshiping our Lord!

Honduras Reaching New Horizons (15 Jan 2011)

All the Time God is Good...
The Honduras team has seen new horizons (in flight and beyond)  We are all in awe of the area and the people.  We were comforted to meet with our team leader Perry from LWI, and our in country liasons Yaderia and Emillio.  They are glad to see us and remember our team from last year (fondly).
As we travel we found creative ways to pack our bags saving the over weight charge! Parise God for all blessings.  We saw the most glorious sunset on our flight yesterday.  Today on our bus ride to our hotel in the Sambo Creek area we were awed by the people, culture, and the Mona Lisa.

We are setteled in our hotel for the evening, watching the Packers En Espanol.

Tomorrow we will attend church in the morning and travel closer to our work site.

Guatemala Team Doing Fine!

Our team of 4 said goodbye last night to the 30 people we've spent the last 4 days with and are now in Guatemala City.  Have a look at the NEXT International blog for updates.

We're praying for the Chile team as they continue their ministry, and the Honduras team as they fly to Honduras today!  God is good, all the time!

Ahora somos chilenos -or- Now we are from Chile

Hola Cedarbrook!  We have arrived in Chile after much flying, a few delays and much busing.  We all stayed with host families last night in Tome.  Now we are loading up the bus to head out to our worksite.  We are drawing straws to see who has to ride on top of the bus (Christine says, not really, you can´t write stuff like that Matt).  All the parents are talking about how much they miss their kids.  Oh!  We gotta go!  Adios!

Chile team checking in

On our way :)...
We had one forgotten passport but never fear it's with us now. A little first flight delay to Dallas then off to Santiago we go. Only 26 hours until we arrive at our destination :)
We will post again when we can - God Bless

Excited Anticipation (and just a little nervous!)

This morning 28 people lined up in front of the Cedarbrook Church community to be prayed for by Pastor Remy.  Three teams are venturing out this week into the world of international outreach!

On Monday, January 10, four people will be heading to Guatemala to work in a variety of contexts.  They'll begin on Tuesday by connecting with a team from Stevens Point, Wisconsin who is doing a medical clinic in the village of Sumpango.  From there, the team will be exploring possible venues for future outreach.  We're expecting for God to open up some exciting doors!  Watch for updates on the NEXT International blog

On Tuesday,  January 11, twelve people will be boarding a plane in frigid weather bound for the Southern Hemisphere's town of Dichato, Chile.  This team will bring encouragement and practical help to this village as they help rebuild a water supply and restroom facilities which were destroyed by an earthquake and tsunami.  Watch for their updates on this blog site.

On Friday, January 14, twelve more Cedarbrookers will be transported to Minneapolis where they will begin their journey to a village in Northern Honduras.  This team will be working with Living Water International.  Their task will be to help drill a well that will provide fresh water for people in surrounding villages.  They will also teach hygiene practices so that the folks there will be able to stay healthy with their new fresh water well.

Please keep these groups in your prayers for the days ahead.  Undoubtedly, each team and each team member will encounter many unexpected challenges and joys!  We look forward to seeing them all back in 2 weeks!  Stay tuned to the blogs for updates!
